Today Will and I drove to Austin to meet up with our friend Nicole to see the New Pornographers live at Stubb's! We checked in at the hotel, dropped off our stuff, then drove to find a parking spot. The three of us ate dinner at Stubb's Barbecue (
http://www.stubbsaustin.com/index.php) and then walked down the street to the outdoor area of Stubb's. The concert was outside in the hot Austin in July heat. There was almost no breeze at all. We got in and bought tshirts and started scoping good spots. There were two opening bands, Imaad Wasif (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imaad_Wasif) and Dodos (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dodos). The show started at 8pm. The New Pornographers (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_pornographers) came on around 10pm and played for two hours. The performance was incredible! They really put on a good show. The Dodos were equally awesome, they have a band member who plays the vibraphone (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vibraphone). I do, however, think Will and I have passed our concert-going prime. It was hot and we were sweaty and I was cranky and got upset with people standing in front of me or trying to have a conversation with each other during the concert. After the concert, we went to catch up with another friend on 6th Street. We are definitely past the 6th Street thing as well. There were drunk people stumbling all over the place and vomit in the street, it was just gross. Overall though, it was a pretty good day. We love the New Pornographers!
