Afterward, we got cleaned up and walked down the street to Walgreens. Yes, there is a Walgreens on The Strip and it was only a block or two away from our hotel. We had to go shopping because we forgot sunscreen, and sunscreen is a must when you're walking around Vegas during the day. It was probably the fanciest Walgreens we have seen, and it had fancy prices too. Over $10 for a bottle of sunscreen! At 70+ SPF it was worth it, though. I also decided to get a hat to protect my bald head. Linda bought a nice Las Vegas visor and we both splurged a bit on some Icees.
Next stop was the Fashion Show mall, which is directly across from the Wynn. After seeing all the signs for it, at first both Linda and I thought there was an actual fashion show going on but eventually we realized it was the name of the place. For the most part it was a mall like any other you would find in a large city, but perhaps a little more upscale. We were impressed with a painting store we found on the inside - every painting 50% off. We decided they might be too large to carry back on the plane ;-) At any rate, the mall was a great air-conditioned place to walk around and enjoy our Icees.
Once we finished there, we walked across the street again to Lagasse's Stadium. It's a casino/sports bar that also serves food. I thought the service was less than friendly, but their food was tasty.
We walked back to the Wynn and checked out the shopping center there. It has a large selection of stores with names I can't pronounce, and I think Linda was more impressed with it than me, but I still thought it was interesting to see. My favorite part (and perhaps Linda's too) was the Wynn store where, no kidding, you can purchase any of the decor you find in the hotel. Anyone up for some $300 sheets?
Linda was tired, so she napped in our room while I went and played roulette in the Wynn casino. I won $30, which incidentally was the only time either of us walked away from the table with more money than we started. I decided to try out another casino so I walked south to the Palazzo. I was just about to get started on blackjack when Linda texted me to say she was coming down, so I had to rush back over to the Wynn. It's just as well, I suppose, because I'm sure I would have lost money anyway on the blackjack.
From there we drove to the Hard Rock Cafe. Vegas is a little funny to me, because parking seems to be free anywhere you go, but it is always a long way off The Strip. So even though we drove to Hard Rock, we had to park in the MGM Grand garage and walk a good distance back.
At Hard Rock we shared a juicy steak, and the service was great! We were both impressed with our experience there. They had many rock 'n roll relics from a variety of acts, such as Elvis (of course), Barry White, MC Hammer, Milli Vanilli...too many to name, really.
The M&M's store is right next to Hard Rock so we visited there after dinner. It was four stories of garish colors and expensive souvenirs. On one of the walls they had giant tubes filled with every imaginable color of M&M's, so of course we each grabbed a bag and filled up. Only when we paid out did we realize that they were $12.99 a pound! And between us, we bought around three pounds.
At that point we were all Vegased out for the day, so we relaxed in our room with ice water and M&M's before bedtime.
A memorable moment for the day - we saw Buzz Lightyear and Woody hanging around near the M&M's store, but we didn't stop to say hello. Buzz is a lot shorter than you'd expect.

Buzz Lightyear was shorter than me! It was pretty disappointing!
