So this morning was the Northside District-wide job fair. First, the high school it was in was a comprehensive school, I'm thinking this means the general curriculum is taught here, unlike schools like Health Careers and Business School High School, etc. Northside is the 4th largest district in the state of Texas (yes, seriously). So, the high school was about the size of a Walmart with a Walmart sized parking lot to match. I left the house about 7:45am, and I got to the street by the school around 8:10am. While waiting at the light to turn on the street by the school, I look to my right, and the enormous parking lot was already filled! Registration was from 8am - 9am, so I thought that by getting there right around 8am meant I could get a decent parking spot. I was seriously in my car driving around in the labyrinth that is the parking lot and didn't park until 8:30am. Inside the auditorium hallway, it was the usual routine, sign in, fill out a name tag with your name and certification field(s), and find a seat in the auditorium. There are about 64 elementary schools with three new opening in the fall. There are so many elementary schools that they took up the two gyms with just tables and the principals and vice principals. I was there until about 11:30am talking to people and handing out my resume. No interviews today, the majority of the schools I talked to do team interviews, and they said they would start calling in the upcoming weeks. A lot of people from the schools I talked to were very nice and positive about giving me a call back. I talked to about 25-30 schools, I had a list of about 20 that I for sure had to go to because they are close to where we live. Now it just rests on my references, which are pretty awesome. Hopefully I'll get some calls back and some team interviews! And hopefully I won't have to wait until late July/early August to find out!
Have a good weekend!
Linda
